Why I Still Love Etsy
Etsy is, imho, the premier online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods.
It’s quite user friendly, so I was able to open my shop and get my first few items listed fairly easily! I am *not* very tech/computer savvy, so this is important! I believe that starting out on Etsy is a great way to get your feet wet with a new business and online selling. Test products, find your niche, learn how to optimize, work on your photography etc.
My shop has grown slowly but steadily, and in the last 30 days I have had 2,508 visits. That is up 108% from this time last year! Etsy still brings me 54% of that traffic, so it is still beneficial to me to stay at Etsy for the timebeing while I develop my standalone website through Shopify.
It’s just .20 US to list an item on Etsy which lasts until it is sold, or 4 months. 5% fees on the sales and shipping amount, and a payment processing fee if you use Etsy’s checkout. That is relatively cost effective, considering the potential traffic Etsy can bring you!
If you’re creative and want to start selling your handcrafted work online, I suggest Etsy as a great platform.
